Source of funds verification
Three months of bank statements as a PDF is not analysis. Open banking data, categorised and assessed, is.
What it is
What this search covers
Source of funds is the part of client due diligence that supervisory bodies most consistently find wanting. Collecting statements is not the same as reviewing them, and a file that contains unread PDFs is not an evidenced conclusion.
Open banking verification lets the client grant read-only access to their account data directly. The output is a categorised analysis: regular income, unusual credits, transfers from third parties, gambling activity, and any pattern that warrants a question.
It is faster for the client than gathering statements, and it gives you something defensible on the file — an actual assessment rather than a bundle of documents.

Why it matters
What goes wrong without it
Gifted deposits carry their own due diligence
Where part of the deposit is a gift, the donor's source of funds also needs to be understood. The report identifies the third-party credit so you know to ask.
A documented conclusion is the point
The regulations expect you to know your client's source of funds. A structured report records what you knew and when.
Questions
Source of Funds — your questions
Is open banking access safe for the client?
It is read-only, time-limited, and granted by the client through their own bank's authentication. No credentials are shared with us or with you.
What if the client will not use open banking?
Then statements remain the fallback, and the review has to be done manually and recorded. We can advise on what that record should contain.
